Book Data Sources

  • Open Library (openlibrary.org) — Primary source for book covers, ISBNs, metadata, and descriptions (various open licenses)
  • Wikipedia (wikipedia.org) — Book descriptions, genres, and literary history, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0
  • Google Books API: Fallback source for book details, cover images, and descriptions (Google Terms of Service). Cover images load directly from Google’s servers. We may store links to Google’s cover images (not the images themselves) so books show a cover. We do not add descriptions from Google Books to our shared catalog; they stay on your device and, if you sign in, in your own library backup.
  • Bookshop.org — Book purchase links (affiliate partnership)
  • Bibliomancy Community Catalog — Aggregated reading statistics from our users
